Pirates’ Promise Board of Directors

United by a profound respect for the horse, the Pirate's Promise Board of Directors brings together decades of diverse expertise across the racing, business, and technology sectors. Our leadership team is driven by a singular, uncompromising mission: to champion the welfare and aftercare of thoroughbreds and sport horses. From the backside of the track to the boardroom, we leverage our collective experience to advocate for dignified retirements, ensuring these magnificent athletes receive the lifelong care, protection, and soft landings they have earned.

My lifelong devotion to the equestrian world began at Chicago's Arlington Park and evolved into a two-decade career as a dedicated trainer, farrier, and stable owner. After attending the Bristol School of Farrier Science, I committed my life to teaching riders of all abilities—including individuals with special needs—and training competitive hunters and jumpers. My journey through the racing industry is anchored by a profound bond with Pirate's Punch, a spirited racehorse I’ve guided since he was three years old. Today, my ultimate reward is fulfilling Pirate's Promise—giving back to the animals who give us so much by retiring him to the safe, comfortable, and happy life he deserves beyond the track.

Audrey Mager

Founder/Director

From growing up on the backside of the Saratoga harness track to building a dedicated career as a racehorse trainer, my life is defined by the heartbeat of the horse. My true purpose, however, begins where the finish line ends. As a fierce advocate for thoroughbred and sport horse aftercare, I apply my deep industry knowledge and hands-on experience to ensure these magnificent athletes receive the dignified retirements they have earned. Alongside my husband—and inspired by my family's tradition of providing soft landings for retired racers—I am devoted to championing off-track thoroughbreds like my own Callant and Feeling Dangerous. Through my work with Pirate's Promise, I am fulfilling a lifelong mission to give back to the horses who give us everything, ensuring they have the chance to safely and comfortably thrive long after their racing days are done.

Jonathan "JODY' True

TREASURER, COMPTROLLER

From my roots in Louisville, Kentucky, to my current home in Bonita Springs, Florida, my life has been inextricably linked to the Thoroughbred racing community for nearly three decades. What began in 1996 as early mornings volunteering at the track to help a friend launch a training career quickly evolved into a lifelong devotion to the sport and its magnificent athletes. Armed with a Business Administration and Accounting degree from the University of Louisville, I have combined my professional acumen with my passion for horses, transitioning from participating in syndicates to my current role as General Manager of Team Forster Racing, LLC. Beyond the thrill of the track, however, my true calling is safeguarding the well-being of the animals at the center of it all. By bringing this deep-seated dedication to the mission of Pirate's Promise, I am committed to championing the care, protection, and dignified futures these remarkable horses deserve, inviting others to join us in making a lasting impact.

A lifelong animal lover whose equestrian journey began in childhood, Tiffany Madison brings a profound, hands-on dedication to equine welfare from her home in Slidell, Louisiana. Her early passion for horses crystallized into a definitive mission three years ago when she and her family rescued their first horse, sparking a fierce commitment to providing vulnerable animals with a second chance. This dedication only deepened after a pivotal meeting with Audrey a year ago, an introduction that ultimately led Tiffany to adopt her own beloved off-track thoroughbred, Snook. Today, as the Director of Volunteer Services for Pirates’ Promise, Tiffany channels her personal rescue experience and unwavering empathy into action. By mobilizing community support and coordinating dedicated volunteers, she serves as a passionate advocate for transitioning racehorses, fighting to ensure they are met with the compassion, vital care, and soft landings they so deeply deserve beyond the track.
